Children present - please drive slowly.
Hazards:
Roll-over or sliding on steep/uneven terrain
Crushing between wagon and tractor or structures
Entanglement in moving parts
Overloading causing instability or mechanical failure
Poor visibility leading to collisions (e.g. with stock, people, obstacles)
Mechanical failure (e.g. hitch, hydraulics, tyres)
Risk Controls:
Terrain and Roll-over/Sliding:
Avoid using silage wagons on steep or wet slopes
Use larger 4WD tractors, and wagons with good tyre grip and load for appropriate weight distribution
Assess paddock conditions before entry – delay operation in wet or unstable areas or find an alternate location
Plan safe travel routes and entry/exit points - always have a run-out planned
Reduce travel speed on slopes or turns
Operational Safety:
Only trained and competent operators to use tractors and wagons
Keep people and animals well clear during operation
Never ride on the wagon
Shut down engine and remove key before clearing blockages or performing maintenance
Regularly inspect tyres, brakes, hydraulic hoses, and hitching equipment
