Hazards:

• Tip-over/rollover: Uneven terrain, excessive speed, overloading, or improper bucket use.

• Struck-by incidents: Poor visibility, people working near machine, reversing without warning.

• Machine contact with structures or vehicles: Limited sightlines or operator error.

• Mechanical failure: Poor maintenance or pre-use checks missed.

• Dust/noise exposure: Prolonged operation in dry or confined areas.

• Falls from machine: Climbing on/off unsafely, slippery steps.
  
  

Control Measures:

• Operator training and competency

  • Only trained and authorised personnel to operate wheel loaders.

  • Familiarisation with specific machine type and environment.
    
    

• Safe operating procedures

  • Always wear seatbelt and use ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structures).

  • Travel at appropriate speeds and avoid sharp turns.

  • Lower bucket when driving and never travel with a raised load.
    
    

• Environmental controls

  • Wet down dusty areas or use dust suppression methods.

• Access and egress

  • Maintain clean, non-slip steps and handholds.

  • Use three points of contact when entering/exiting cab
